What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of optimum health, peak performance, disease prevention and patient care. All the cells of the human body can be made from fewer than fifty nutrients. The therapy aims to optimise the intake and absorption of these for each unique individual, thus providing the "nuts and bolts" of healing and health maintenance.
Applications of Nutritional Therapy
Digestive System
Indigestion, flatulence, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, bowel disorders (IBS, candidiasis) food intolerance.
Cardiovascular System
High blood lipids (LDL cholesterol, triglycerides) high blood pressure, poor circulation, varicose veins, fluid retention, atherosclerosis, arteriosclerosis
Immune System
Poor resistance to infection, food allergies, inflammatory conditions such as eczema and arthritis.
Endocrine System
Blood sugar imbalances, hormone imbalances (pre-menstrual, menopausal symptoms) stress, lack of energy, tiredness, osteoporosis
General Health
*Pre-conceptual care, pregnancy and breastfeeding *Weight control (loss, gain)
*Condition of skin, hair and nails *Special diets (e.g. Sports Nutrition)
*Healthy eating advice and education, especially for children.
A balanced diet is fundamental to good health. Dietary imbalances and deficiencies are a potential factor in nearly all diseases and symptoms.
